I get grease on all my shirts too. There is actually a really good grease stain remover that you can buy in the detergent isle. It's a little yellow bottle --- I think they call it "blue Devil", and there are different kinds for different stains (blood, grass, grease) etc! It's actually worked on a few of my shirts! Those candle parties are so ridiculously expensive. All I ever end up buying are either tea lights or votives. I wasn't too impressed with the smells this time either, I only found two that I liked. Oh well, they're fun to go to anyways. My friend told me to keep a can of pepper spray in my room if I get scared at night. I'm pretty used to it now, although I know it's not too wise if it is awfully hot I even sleep with the window all the way open, otherwise I just have it cracked with the safety locks on. [VR]

Did you check the circuit breaker? Usually, dishwashers are on their own breaker. Maybe it just needs to be reset. Or if you have the make and model of the dishwasher you could get an owner's manual online. Most manufacturers put them on their websites these days. Good luck. [Wilderness]

When I read your entry I thought of my Grandma and then Glenn Beck. My Grandma always told me that you can get a man to do anything for you by praise. Even when your husband does little stuff you should tell him how great he is, kiss, hug and when he gets this reaction from you he will want to do more. Glenn Beck was talking about this same kind of thing. He said that men are like puppies. They want to be petted, they want you to make you happy. Hope that makes sense. [VR]

I hope Sister's hubby continues with the counseling until he works that all out. There are probably workbooks you can order online to help with that. I would do a search for something like "overcoming child abuse". I also hope your Sister keeps a very watchfull eye on the baby and how hubby reacts to different situations. I hate seeing people be mean or downright abusive to children. I once had to take Tristan's father's hands off of his neck for him crying - he was 2 or 3. Sick. Thank God he never has to see that idiot again. [VR]

A couple more things. When Sarah was first born Vick took her to Red Lobster, it was all you can eat crab legs. Sarah demanded to be held and coddled the whole time. We just took turns holding her. My friend was told by her Dr. that pear juice is the best for constipated babies. [VR]

This one woman used to work at our office that sounds like that. She was the receptionist and couldn't understand why they wouldn't promote her...nobody wanted to work with her and she bitched about every extra thing you asked her to do. I tried helping her once and telling her how to get promoted but she wouldn't listen. After that, she got even worse. She even called one girl "you ugly thing". That girl is super nice too. She is the one that gave me all of the beanie babies to donate. Back to the receptionist, she finally quit. Got a new job doing payroll. I would love to know how she finagled that one! I can actually hear her telling someone in an interview that she did all of the payroll where I work, when in actuality all she did was add up hours and some data entry. Oh well, I'm glad she is gone! [VR]

When Christian was colicky and not pooping much, I brought him to the chiropractor, she would adjust him and he would poop within two hours. She also taught me this technique to massage his lower spine which would stimulate the bowels..It also worked everytime...Now that he is 14 months old, whenever he is backed up I give him a little massage and it helps! If you are interested in Revelations start reading The Left Behind series. It is based on revelations as the authors see as true, but it is put into modern times with characters. It starts off right before the rapture and continues on. You would not see your baby tortured so get that out of your head! If you believe that Jesus Christ is your savior you will be taken up in the rapture too and will not see anything else. I am on book number9 (I think) in the series. I have recommended it before and sometimes the comment I get is "I don't want to know about that stuff", to me, that's all the more reason that it should be read! I do believe that something is going on now, not sure how far, could be another 300 yrs for all we know. Have you heard the audio of those terrorists when they were beheading Nick Berg? They kept saying "Allah Akbar" (God is great) while they were doing it. That right there, I think is pure evil. I actually got sick to my stomach listening to it (it was on the radio), I will not watch the video. I hope baby minded you and slept through the night! [VR]

Hi. Sorry about baby's ear's. My daughter had ear infections allll the time. I always said that I should just buy Amoxicillin by the 50 gallon drum! She grew out of it at about 2. It's funny though, the doctor never suggested putting tubes in her ears. I know so many people who have had to do that for their kids. Isn't motherhood fun?? You wanted to know what a Blog is? I hope baby is feeling better soon. This is rare, but happened to Tristan so I just thought I would tell you about it so you can keep your eye out for it. If he is ever sick with a high fever and they give him antibiotics with aspirin and tylenol and the fever doesn't go away or it goes away and comes right back, have him checked immediately for Kawasaki Disease. Other symptoms are strawberry tongue, conjunctivitice, dry chapped lips, rash on torso arms and legs, extremely tired. This has to be caught right away. Believe me, you will know that something is seriously wrong. It was very hard to go through but if caught on time can be corrected within a couple of days with a major improvement in the first day from a immunoglobulin iv. Just wanted to fill you in on that because alot of Drs. just aren't aware of it because it is so rare. [VR]

I've learned to type my entry as an email first and then copy it to the entry page. When it's posted on MDD I delete the email. Less chance of losing it that way. lol In answer to your question, Doug is a Union Electrician. He could be making good money, but he hasn't worked for most of the time that I've known him. He's like number 300 on the union books for work. When he's had a job he ends up sick or someone pisses him off and he walks off the job. Personally, I think the union stopped sending him out on jobs because of the way he acts. It's kinda sad cause he's been doing it for almost 30 years. RYN: Lol, that's funny! If I had a camera for my computer you would be able to see her, because she is usually sitting up here by me. I have the top desk drawer to the side filled and I have a file on top of all the junk in it, Lily lays down there when I am on the computer. She is black, with grey, brown and cream colors in her fur. She is not calico though. The colors are blended in with the black, like she got a highlight! She looks like she has milk on her chin and on one paw. Someday I will have to scan and upload a bunch of pictures, I would love to do some show and tell! You need to exfoliate and moisturize your face constantly. Dry skin is what leads to wrinkles! I've been using Mary Kay of course, but make sure you find something you like. Maybe test a little patch of skin to make sure you are not allergic if you have sensitive skin. The Time Wise line for MK is pretty mild though. I like it. Good luck whatever your choice! [VR]

a friend of mine recommended Omega 3-6-9 for dry skin. We live in a high dry climate and it's a constant struggle for people around here. My friend J's older brother shot himself as part of a sucide pact with some friends after Kurt Cobain killed himself. J's parents marriage fell apart after that and they just kept blaming each other for their oldest son's death. They divorced, but kept trying to push J & his younger siblings on each other.. neither wanted the responsibility. When I was 15, I walked into J's room to find himself in the middle of slitting his wrists. The EMT's got him to the hospital in time. I wasn't quick enough the second time around. Scavenger hunt sounds like fun. I just found a bird's nest in the crook of my downspout. I'm going to leave it there, it doesn't look like it's causing any harm. They were building nests in my roof vents, then eventually they crashed through the screening into my attic! My mom has had that same problem the check engine light came on and she took it into the shop where they said it was the gas cap... I was like c'mon mom, that can't be right - but she insisted that's what they told her. Then, when I got my new car last year, that was one of the things mentioned in the owner's manual... make sure ya put the gas cap on tight. Who woulda thunk it??? Don't panic too much about the check engine light . Growing up, we called those "Dummy" lights in our home. All cars have computers... and sometimes a weird code gets thrown into the computer (if your gas cap isn't all the way on, you have a bad sensor or if your parking brake is sticking ect) It could just mean they need to clear a code.. which is 99% of CEL cases. They hook up a monitor, find the code and clear it. Of course, they may charge $75 to do that. (If they do, they are rip-offs...it's not worth that much) Depending on the car you have, you may be able to find the code yourself. I have a '94 Dodge Caravan. If you turn the key forward (without strating it) and backward three times in succession and leave it forward (without turning the car on) the CE light will blink. You count it and it will give you the code number. Then you can look it up in the owners manual. Ex: It'll blink 6 times, pause and blink 7 times. Look for code 67. In your case, gotta love poopy diapers! Before you decide to pay a monthly fee for an alarm system check out Home Depot or Lowes. They also carry motion detectors and magnetic window alarms. I saw it on a home show. They look pretty easy to install, looked like I could even do it! Might saw you some money. I think the most expensive one that they talked about was only $300 [VR]

We have a 10 second rule at our house...if it's been on the floor less than 10 seconds it's edible as is :) longer than that it might need a rinse :) you know what? dog germs are gross, but it's not the bottom of the bucket yet. I can remember being so tired that I'd eat baby food out of the jar with my baby.....we all survive :) the horses sound like a great deal!!! A cheap horse around here goes for about 1500, saddles around $300- 400 and the rest of the gear adds up to another $300 or so...that's they cheap route!!! Riding is so relaxing :) [Paige_99]

It's true, this IS motherhood - that doesn't make your husband's behavior right, but a lot of men behave this way. My husband still to this day gets upset when he feels that I'm not showing him enough attention. It's pathetic!!! Wow, that was a doozy. I don't know if I can help or not but here are my thoughts. Maybe hubby doesn't feel comfortable with baby because he doesn't know what to do to entertain him or comfort him. Maybe if you showed him how baby likes to be held close and rocked. How he likes to be cooed to, ya know, teach him how to deal with babies. Another thought, maybe you guys could lay down some ground rules on what is expected of each other. Have you been to the Dr. for a check up? Is there anyone you can get to babysit for you once a week or every two weeks so that you can both get out on a "date" to talk and just be with each other? Good Luck, hope it gets better soon. [VR]

We had to use Nutramigen for my son too - it was REALLY expensive and that was almost 17 years ago! It's "pre-digested" formula... whatever THAT means! I know we were paying over $3 a can and that hurt. His problem was that his esophogus was not working right and he was refluxing everything. He had heartburn so bad he didn't care if he ate or not. He also had projectile vomiting like you described. Fun, huh?? lol I don't think you are over reacting at all. and if that is the way your doctor treats you, it's time to find another pediatrician. At least he's starting to find some relief! poor little thing! I actually work for a non-profit union Fund... so we don't have the same kind of funding like BCBS, Aetna & UHC have. We also don't make our members jump through hoops to get healthcare. We don't care if it's in or out of network... we pay a portion of it. No referrals, no PCP necessary, no co-pays or deductible for in-netowrk docs. And our fee schedule is decent compared to the Big Boys. I mean, have you ever actually SEEN Medicare's fee schedule? What a joke! They expect doctors to LIVE off that?!? AS far as I know, BCBS pays about $35 (minus co-pay)for a Level 3 OV... the fund I work for pays $110. And we have less money to work with. We also have a harder time getting contracts because we only cover $16,000 people in NJ.. unlike the other companies which cover nationwide. :-P Makes life difficult. The hospitals are making me rip my hair out. We get pathetic 10% off charges for the ones that sign contracts. Then they bill $100,000 for an overnight non-emergent stay! It kills me. And our members are not the brightest.. they use the ER like a doctors office. >:- But hey... I know where you're coming from too. Let's face it, who the heck wants to wait 6 weeks to get paid? And then have to deal with whether the service is/isn't covered, if the doc is in/out of network, deductibles, collecting co-payments.... bah! A GIANT hassle! We tell all non-par docs calling for eligibility to have the member pay up front. (We'll pay what's due to the member, but they are ultimately responsible for the entire bill). And we got rid of the deductible & co-pay for our par docs. It wasn't fair to them. Now that I've just rambled... have a good night! [Nightscape211]

i would count them too. i don't know if this will help cause it really isn't related but i work with kids all day and we used to have a baby that spit up all the time. we eventually found that if we made the bottles in advance and allowed them to sit, they are less granual-ly and the spitting up stopped. so we make them in the morning and then heat them up thru out the day as needed. just a thought. good luck and i hope your baby feels better. I think your husband and my husband could form a club. Out in public, RJ acts as if I'm the worlds worst mother & he's the one who takes care of business. Behind closed doors, he shows no interest in Cody whatsoever. Most of the time, he just yells at Cody. It drives me up the wall. Couple of things: Are you a carrier of Downs? Is it in your family? Chances are if it's not something already in your family, then it probably won't be an issue. Many of the women in my family are carriers. I am. That's why I thank god every night that I have Cody. Didn't your husband listen to his vows when you were married? "For better or worse" ring any bells? I don't recall hearing, "until you can't stand how things are going" anywhere. If that were the case I would've been long gone. Yes, Downs children are not average children and take a bit more effort to handle, but it doesn't mean they're not special. Two of my cousins are Dowsn babies and no one loves them any less because of that fact. I'm praying this is not the case with your little one. I'm praying very hard over it. I think your husband needs to realize that no matter what happens, youre in it for the long haul. Your child is still a child, the fruit of your labor, the result of your union and is special for all those reasons. He is also a miracle, regardless of the situation. And the biggest thing he needs to remember: God never gives us more than we can handle. If I am out of line for anything I have said please disregard it. I just think you have enough on your mind without the man who is supposed to be your love and support adding to your troubles. :-P I pray that things will go well for you tomorrow. Why don't you invite his friends over every night, toss them some chips and pop, let him play superdad and you sit back and relax or go take a nap. Take an hour or two every night and go for a walk, take a bubble bath, go workout somewhere? The look that your baby gives you, only gets better. Just wait. When he is old enough to skin his knee or be scared and you run to the rescue and he wraps his little arms around your neck and the tears slow down. It feels good to know that you have to capability to make someone feel so much better. When Tristan was in the hospital I spent the night there with him 1/2 of the time. His Mom would come and get me at 2:30 in the morning and tell me he was asking for me. I would go up and read a book to him or make up a story about the big purple fish with the red teeth in the fish tank downstairs. It is times like that that make you realize how important it is for you to be in a child's life. [VR]

RYN: Okay, in the beginning you don't want to overwhelm the little tummy. So you start by adding what he is accustomed to or whatever has the least likelihodd of bothering him or causing an allergic reaction. I have started by adding breastmilk to his rice cereal. (Though while I was gone I suppose th big guy could make it up with formula...which the baby HATES!) You could start with either formula or water. Later on after they have tried a few more things without reaction you could make up your food with say...applejuice or any non citrus fruit juice. And you can even start mixing and making your own combo meals. Like my kids loved squash and corn together. And I always mixed some other fruit with prunes if I was making them up as they are so laxative. Does this make sense? I feel like I'm rambling! I never add salt, sugar or honey at this age. I do not use cows milk, but I do give them homemade yogurt made with cows milk. (Even most lactose intolerants can handle yogurt. My kids are usually lactose intolerant until they are about a year old.) Blah, blah, blah...I'll shut up now. LOL [Kanawiosta]

The swings that don't stand too tall are the best ones. I don't know how to describe this....It is the kind of swing that does not have the connecting piece over the baby's head. Do you know what I mean? It makes it easier to get baby in and out of the swing. You just set him in, it doesn't require any maneuverability. Try to get one of those. They are great! [VR]

Thanks, but nursing is not always a bed of roses. Especially the first few weeks are tough. But in the long run I think it's worth it, really less hassle. No filling bottles with powder and water, etc. Funny, I wasn't breastfed, but as soon as I got pregnant I just knew that I would breastfeed. If you really are interested you should try it with your next one. Remember, the first few weeks are a BEAR, but beyond that it's pretty enjoyable. [Kanawiosta]

Just a little comment about the sleeping thing... Babies do not know how to manipulate, their brains have not developed enough to be able to comprehend such things...They are in primal survival mode for most of the first year. Secondly, you cannot spoil a baby. By taking care of your child in the first year ("spoiling") you are creating a person who feels comfortable, and confident in the people he relies on and in himself. Oh, and according to the chief psychiatrist at Sick Kids Hospital the worst thing you could ever do to your baby is to let them cry...You teach them that no one is there to respond to their cries... Hi hon, it's been a while. I feel for you, I know how rough it is learning how to deal with a new baby. Nobody does it exactly right, you wouldn't believe the mistakes I made with my boys when they were first born! Don't let yourself feel too badly about it, and if you really think you're suffering from postpartum depression, you need to talk to a doctor about it- they can get you on some medicine to help you out with that. Most of all, making sure that you're well-rested is so important, and if you need to get help, don't feel bad about that either. EVERY mom goes through this to some extent, and if they don't ( or say they don't) they're lying. Having a child can be so overwhelming at times! they don't do what we thought they would, they take far more time than we ever could imagine, they need far more than we ever thought they could...and when you throw in the vault of emotions ( love, fatigue, guilt, pride) it's more than most of us are equiped to handle at times. I like to do things on my own as well, I like to be independent ( superwoman syndrome at times ;)), but sometimes as moms we need to lower our pride and accept the help that is offered. Your mom is offering to help because she DOES understand. Accept what is offered if you can....it'll be better for you and baby :) okay...now I'm giving unsolicted advice....so I'll go...but one last thing...take care of yourself first...if that means lowering your pride, it might be worth it. The more I read your entires, the more I think you and I do have a lot in common. I thought I would be able to have my son and go back to my normal routine in no time at all! Boy was I wrong! Lol. :-) It sounds like you definitely need a mommy-sanity day. A day to be alone. Even if all you do is soak in the tub all day, it will be a nice mental break. I don't know what you do with the little one all day, but have you ever considered "wearing" him? I carried Cody in a sling all day long... this way he never had to cry for attention, or changing. That cut out 2/3 of his the wailing! If he really has a problem with gas, you could also pump his legs in a walking motion and that will help move gas out of his system too. Has the doctor looked for a reflux problem? Sometimes that is misdiagnosed as colic. All mommy's end up with the "baby blues". It doesn't mean you don't love your baby though :-) All us moms here know that! I had a BIG depression problem throughout and after my pregnancy... but I later learned it was God working in my life. If your really concerned about your blues, you should definitely talk it over with your doctor. It never hurts. And just remember... God NEVER gives us more than we can handle! :-) And this stage will pass before you know it... I got married shortly after I turned 18. I was still in High School. Of course, here in NJ it's almost unheard of! Lol. [Nightscape211]

Awww. You'll be ok. It sounds to me like you are going through a perfectly normal experience. Think about it, your hormones are probably going nuts right about now. I'm sure there are alot of first time Moms that have went through what you are going through. As for baby boy, here are a couple more things we used to do to get Tristan to stop crying, that seemed to work. Put baby on his stomach across your legs to burp him. To sooth him hold him close to you in a cradle position or a burping position and rock forward and backward. I'm sure there are tons of chat rooms or message boards for first time Mom's. Maybe you can find a little support group there. It will get better for you and you sound like you are going to be a great Mommy! [VR]

I agree with Sassybliss. RJ never thought he had to share in helping with Cody since he worked all day... and you know we moms don't do anything except sit around all day. SOunds like you need to Have "the talk" with your husband...About shared responsibility etc...My husband and I devised a weekend plan...I sleep in on Saturdays, he sleeps in on Sundays...You need to communicate the expectations of who does what, when! Otherwise you will end up resenting him, and you certainly don't want that...It is hard enough being a new mother, you don't want your husband to become a problem too!! My cousins son would eat 8oz every three hours on the nose for the first three months. You would never know it looking at him now.. and he's the same age as Cody. Nope, you don't really have to worry about overfeeding at this age. When he is full he will turn his head away or let you know somehow that he is done. And the day/night thing should straighten out soon. We use white noise machines to help our kids sleep at night and during naps. You can do that or some soothing repetitive music like Pachelbels Canon in D. You sound like you're doing great, but I worry that you are not resting enough. That can catch up with you so be careful. Taking car of yourself is insurance for your whole family's well being. Remember that if "Mama aint happy, aint nobody happy" it is so true! [Kanawiosta]

I honestly don't think lil guy will over eat..its not in them to be gluttonous...Only us big people. *grin* I remember my Dr telling me that the reason babies seem to sleep during the evening is that when you're pregnant, you're on the move all day so that rocks the baby to sleep..in the evening you go to bed and the baby wakes up..so..on birth..they seem to do the same thing until you can get their schedule turned around. my parents let me sleep with them, so did half the people I work with. LOL What's wrong with this line? I don't think you can hold them too much when they are so little like that, the only thing about letting them sleep with you when he is so little is that you might roll over and hurt him. My opinion, I would just hold him, rock him, then lay him down. He will get used to it. Even if you want to hold him for an hour or two. My one friend used to get mad if someone called while her baby was sleeping. Then her baby got used to a totally quiet house. Babies will sleep through just about anything if they get used to it. When Tristan was a baby he slept through the dog barking. Anyways, I don't think you can spoil them when they are newborns, I would just worry about the rolling over. [VR]

All babies are different. When I had Hailey she would be like that on and off. Then she would sure enough poop a lot in her diaper. Sometimes it would be every other day and sometimes it would be 2 to 3 times a day. Or like 3 or 4 times a week. It all depends. And I feel lonely when my fiance' leaves for work too. He's usually not home until like after midnight so it gets lonely. That is why I have my little baby girl to be with and keep company. I wish you all the best with your baby boy. Aww..poor little guy is probably still used to sleeping tight in mommy's tummy with the sound of her heartbeat to lull him to sleep. My son slept next to me until he was about three months old.. big enough to reach out and feel the sides of his bassinet at night. Just be careful with the chair. That's really cool, all of that stuff that hubby got, that must have been fun picking it out. Your puppy story was funny, I could just picture it. I think that she finds new love, that treats her right on Sullivan Island! As for the bathroom, go for it! The bathroom and the kitchen cost the most to remodel, but they also contribute the most to your equity. My Mom just redid her bathroom. She had my brother put in a skylight, a bay window and a jacuzzi tub. The theme is Thomas Kinkaid and the colors are a darker green and lavendar. It looks awesome! If you ever get a new tub, get a jacuzzi tub, they are great! [VR]

Honey let me tell you something. After that baby is born you are not going to have the time or the energy to keep us updated on things. Hey I could be wrong, but this is my third kid. I'm lucky to get a shower every three or four days, or even to get to go the bathroom. Don't forget to pick up some Dreft for Baby's clothes! This is a good place to keep track of all of baby's changes. That's why I write alot of stuff about the kids on here. That is VERY strange indeed about the pencil sharpener on the belt loop. Seems like you're really having contractions a lot lately? I never did get many braxton hicks ones- just the real thing when it was time. I'm glad you had a nice time with your family, and I can relate to how sad you feel when they leave. My Mom made a fleece blanket with Tristan that did not need to be sewn. He loves it, he got to help. You just take 2 pieces of fleece, lay them together both facing outward. Cut 1/2 wide fringes all around the edges, the cuts are about 4 inches into the fabric, then you go around and tie the fringes together (which connects the 2 pieces of fabric). You can do the same thing to make a pillow and you can put beads on the pillow! I'm sure any fabric store would know the exact dimensions. [VR]

Haha. Love the butter story! We used to put milk in our jello and to this day I still have a peanut butter and dill pickle sandwich every now and then! I think if you look for the person with the backpack filled with coloring books you will find a buyer! Actually, I bought this house 4 1/2 years ago from a 92 year old man, so I have been redoing all of the rooms. So far I have refinished the kitchen, my bedroom, the pantry, the living room and the dining room. It was in much need of updating, as you could imagine. I didn't even move in here for a year (my Mom lives a mile away, so I stayed at her house all that time). The first year I was here I stripped wallpaper and woodwork. There was alot of junk that I had to get rid of. My Brother plastered all of my ceilings for me and helped me refinish the drywall on the walls. I've put in a couple gardens, planted 2 trees, put on a new side door and screen door and glassblock. I'm getting there, but I still have much to do. After the bedroom I need to finish the pantry and this summer I want to work on my porch (it is enclosed). I want to paint it and put in carpeting. I also want to get carpeting for the living room and dining room. Last, but not least, I have an upstairs that is partially finished, that I will work on. [VR]

Interesting observation about the eyes. I will have to check that out! Kids are so cute when they start to talk. That's why I write alot of stuff about what the kids say in here. I figured when they are older I will get all of these little sayings together and put them in a little book for them. Here's another idea for you. Last year Sarah colored and wrote all over a empty sweater box. It says stuff like "groovy" and "I love Daniel", etc, stuff that a 10 year old would write. Anyways I have saved that box and she does not know this. I am going to wrap her 16, 18 or 21st. birthday present up in it! I need to get Tristan to do one too. Have fun with your family! [VR]

Just so you know, I just left a note on your last entry too. I hate driving, unless I have a good book to read while someone else is driving or else I just want to take a nap. But I hate being behind the wheel. I would rather walk everywhere I go than have to drive. Unfortunately, I can't do that because I live way too far away from everywhere I need to be! About friends- my sisters and I talk about this- it's weird, because we are all each other's best friends. I have Josh and Gina and Brit, but I'm closer to my sisters than to anyone on the planet. And there are things that I would tell certain sisters that I wouldn't tell others, but I think when you've got five sisters, that's to be expected! I don't think there's anything wrong though with not having one designated best friend. I had a lot of catching up to do! I am surprised, but very happy for you that you seem to be doing so well this late in your pregnancy. I know for me, the end was the worst, with it being hard to breathe, and not being able to get comfy because of always having little feet stuck up in my ribcage. Hopefully, since you work for a pediatrician, you'll be able to get free formula for your baby when he's born? My sister Debbie was a nurse for a pediatrician when Justin was born, so we barely ever had to actually buy formula- that was so nice! Especially because formula can become pretty expensive. If I won the lottery I would DEFINATELY quit work. I would travel, volunteer, paint and take classes in glass sculpture, art, politics and some kind of instrument. Maybe the piano or the flute. Some of these I will probably do anyway, hopefully I will do them all. I could just do them sooner with the lottery. Hmm.. I would write and write and write and never stop... RYN: I didn't receive any prenatal care until I was 8 months along. I was due May 31 but never went into labor. I had gestational diabetes and developed hypertension and no one wanted to induce me because of my lack of care... So they let me go until June 26, almost a month late. At 7am that morning, that ran Pitocin through an IV and I went into labor but I was dilating, so they broke my water. It's not supposed to hurt, but I screamed like a banshee..the doctor who did it screwed up. And my son had already passed the meconium (first stool) I laid in bed, in hard labor, for THREE days... without dilating. They even used cervidal on top of the pitocin! Nothing was working. On the third night (the 28th) my doctor came in and asked how I was... I said, "Is the room supposed to spin like this?" I had felt sick all day. Because the doctor who broke my water had scraped my uterus, my son's stool had gotten into my blood stream. I was going into Toxic Shock. My temp was up to 105 degrees my blood pressure was dangerously high and I couldn't breathe without oxygen, so they scheduled me for an emergency c-section. The anesthesiologist on call was over-stressed (there were three other women ready for epidurals, but he had to do me first as I was an emergancy) I asked for general, but he wanted to do the epidural. He attempted eight times.. every needle bent as he was trying to stick me... and he kept hitting nerve endings... my arm jerked once, and I felt pain down my left leg another time. He wanted to keep going until my doctor saw me crying and grabbed his arm. He was so pissed about being told what to do he over-anesthetized me. When they stapled me shut and tried to wake me up, I opened my eyes, but couldn't breathe. The anes had paralyzed me. They had to rush me to ICU. Even then, there was no ventilator available and they had to wait. They gave me something to break down the anes faster. When a ventilator was ready, they were putting the tube down my throat wrong. I tried to move my hands to tell them they were hurting me, but they just tied my hands to the bed, thinking I was having convulsions. They gave me more anes to knock me out and I slipped into a coma. I came out of it the next day.. but I had so many complications they left me in ICU. Even when they finally moved me to the regular maternity ward, they had given me so many radiopharmaceuticals, I couldn't breastfeed right away! (My hospital bill totaled over $32,000) After all is said and done 2 and 12 years later... I still have diabetes. I have sciatica from the botched epidurals and my blood counts are never normal. Paps always come come back abnormal and my body still has not regulated itself. BUT.. I've got my little boy. And he was worth every moment. Sorry I've rambled on... [Nightscape211]

I used to get real puffy towards the end. Just make sure you take off your wedding ring soon. If you leave it on, the hospital will make you take it off, and if you can't get it off, they'll cut it off. That's good that some maternity clothes are still big on you. I can't remember the name of it but a girl that I used to work with had it. She would take off hers shoes and her feet would be puffed out way past the line of her shoe! Hey! I have a suggestion for you! If you can, get a video monitor instead of an audio one for the baby's room. You can probably get one for around $100 now. Maybe your Mom can get you one. They are awesome! More so when the baby is a toddler. LOL It is so cool to be able to watch them wake up and play uninterrupted in the crib, talking to themselves! Tristan used to do that, it was so neat. He would just walk around in his crib, la de da de da, playing and talking. If you walk in the room though, you can't catch that. I painted his nursery for him. It took me 3 months, every night painting. His Mom wanted a zebra on the wall. She ended up with a zebra, an elephant (all you saw when you first walked in the room was the elephants butt! around the corner was the rest of the elephant), a cheetah, 2 giraffes, a toucan, a frog, a lion, a tiger, vines, flowers, a tree (that kind of looked like the Keebler tree) and a monkey hanging by his tail, holding a banana! That was the only mural I have ever done and I had fun! Tristan just loved it! They were all happy, smiling, cartoon animals of course! Anyways, the video monitors are great! Thank you for the advice...sometimes I need a reminder of who's really in charge of the universe :-) My family has always been matriarichal...that is, the women were always in control. The men never seemed to have the ability to assume leadership. When I got married, my husband promised he would do anything and everything to support me & our children. He even told me he wanted me to be able to stay at home. (Which is what I wanted from the beginning...to be able to be at home with Cody) In the end, he decided he didn't really want to work, and the work he wanted was out of his reach. (He dropped out of HS & never got his GED and was looking for a job that would pay him $15/hr)So I ended up working two jobs while I was pregnant & JUST made the cut-off for my health insurance to be effective before my son was born. Then, I was home for two months (with no income whatsoever) and I had to go back to work...and leave my son home with my husband. Big mistake. HUGE. Men are not meant to be nuturers... and I was not meant to be the provider. I take care of everything.. bills, old debts, maintenance, you name it. Even when he was at home, he never took care of the dishes or the regualr house chores. He amounted to a baby-sitter and not much else. I know I should be able to concede to whatever he decides... but he's forced everything else into my hands for so long, it's like...okay, where do I draw the line? I think I'm just going to pray very hard about it. Afterall, nothing is ever REALLY in my hands... [Nightscape211]

Thanks for visiting my diary. My condolences on Cupcake -- I had a cat for 13 years and cared for him through a stroke. Had him put down after a second stroke, it was so horrible to watch him suffer. At least you've got your other 4-legged friends to be around. [Ambivalent]

I had to put my kitty to sleep about 6 years ago. Wow, it doesn't seem that long. It was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. I am just now getting to the point that I want a kitten. I hope Cupcake gets better for you. How old is Cupcake? I think I will get a kitten in the spring. [VR]

Here's another idea for your Grandma...I always get my Grandma an Amaryllis bulb. They grow superfast are easy to care for and get a couple huge flowers on them. I get my Grandma red. You can usually get them at Walmart for about $4. Hope your Grandma likes her bamboo plant! [VR]

I had some catching up to do! About that anonymous comment- I wouldn't worry about what anyone who comments without using their own sign-in name has to say. Total chickenshits. Anyway, enough about that. Sometimes I think that Jason and your husband are very similar. Jason can be somewhat of a mama's boy and it drives me absolutely crazy. He is also not the most manly man in the world (I come from a family whose men can fix anything that breaks, repair appliances, fix cars, and build things out of wood. You know- the works). Jason can't do these things so well, and that can make me crazy, but at least he does try, so I can live with that. Both him and your husband (according to you and I anyway) can sometimes be like girls in that they act like babies. I love Jason though, and I know you love your husband, it is just a trying part of their personalities to deal with. You do well though. [Pale Pink Cashmere]

Congrats on being an aunt again. I really can't believe they discharged her that soon. With both boys, it was mandatory that I stay 24 hours minimum, and with Justin, I had to stay 2 nights. I agree- wordiness is not an atribute on a resume. I hope he gets the job- good benefits are so important when you have a baby to think of! Cupcake will be fine! My bro had 2 cats and one crawled into someones car by the engine and got a leg chopped off and he was fine! It didn't even change his sweet personality! I love cats. I had to put one to sleep a couple of years ago and swore that I would never get another one, but I think it is time. I miss him and want another one. I think in the spring I will get one or maybe 2! I love friends too! LOL Sometimes I blow off my real friend's phone calls because I am watching friends! Not all the time, just sometimes! I love Joey and Phoebe, they just crack me up! As for shopping online...I have never had a problem, alot of times you can get things so much cheaper and it is delivered right to your door and quick! I use my debit card and don't worry about it at all as long as the website is secure. Amazon has free shipping if you order $25 or more, they also have independent vendors (that do not get your credit card info) that offer used products like books or cds. I have orders these quite a few times and have never had a problem! [VR]

You talked about the Italian Job, it's so funny- Jason and I watched that movie and had that EXACT same debate!! Isn't that weird?! But he agreed with what your husband said, that he wasn't in NKOTB. Odd that we both thought so. I hated not being able to clean my bathroom the way I liked when I was pregnant. I use very harsh chemicals, because I like it sanitary- I want to be able to eat off the countertop it's so clean (I obviously wouldn't really eat off the countertop though). But when I was pregnant, the smell of the chemicals would make me nauseous, so I had to switch to a different cleanser, which I didn't like. Ok, I don't know why I told you all that! lol! Hay, I used to HATE beer. I hated the taste of it. But then, I started hanging out with my guy friends more and more... and thats allll they drank. So I guess it grew on me and now I love it. AH... babies are soooo exciting! My sister and bil find out the sex of their baby on Monday! I can't wait! RYN: There's a little bit of everything on the T2T ring, but more young girls are starting to see my side. It feels horrible to know that some are so disillusioned about eating disorders and support groups. T82 and I are able to present things to each other in an adult way, though, so that's good. I don't blame you for feeling that way regarding your husband's ex-girlfriend. It's natural to feel very self-conscious when you're pregnant, I know I did anyway!!! Thanks for the comments regarding the sex thing, it's nice to know that at least I'm not the only one that has to deal with that. I don't understand though why it doesn't bother you. Do you mind if I ask a totally personal question? Do you have orgasms when you 2 have sex? I never did until I was 20 and I know you just turned 20 not so long ago so I am just curious. Also, my sister Meagan and friend Britney are younger than me and they haven't had them yet either. I just can't imagine why else it wouldn't make you completely crazy like it does me!!! We've been married for 3 1/2 years. The only reason I stayed in the first place was because of my son. Now, I'm not financially independent enough to leave. The charlie horse cramps are the worst! I used to get them every once in a while in the middle of the night and I would just lay in bed and scream! This is what I have discovered and since then (which is about 4 months now) I have not had any charlie horses. I noticed that I would get them when I would stretch my legs. This is what I started doing, when I stretch my legs I make sure that my foot is flexed. I used to point my feet as I stretched. I know it sounds strange but I swear if you flex your feet when you stretch you will not get a charlie horse. You just have to make a conscious effort to do it while you are awake so that you can do it while you are sleeping! Try it and good luck, hope it helps because those are the worst! [VR]

That is strange about you being so mad. I feel so bad for you about the charlie horse thing- that (along with heartburn) was the worst part of being pregnant. Btw, Jason rents his home- I was going to put that in my entry and forgot! Have a nice time at the inlaws. Oh and also, I am terrified of the dark too, but luckily, I never have to be home alone since I have kids. Weird thing is, usually I am a chicken, but I feel brave when I have my kids around.
